Our vision is to be the very best we can be so that you get the very best that climbing has to offer. When creating our wall the main point of focus was you, the climbing community and those with an itch to give it a go and be a part of our climbing family.

We are passionate about developing our sport and ensuring it is encouraging, fun and accessible to everyone. We work hard to evolve as a centre to support our climbers to improve, stay healthy and make new friends along the way.

The Climbing Lab is at the forefront of cutting edge design and innovation in the climbing world and is always working to develop and push boundaries to make sure you always have the very best facility possible.

About Us

As we grow as a business our aim is to constantly improve our ECO status through renewable energy, recycling and waste reduction. Working in line with this goal is our preference towards using local and UK based business for the supply of consumables and stock items. We already source all of our coffee from Leeds based coffee roasters “Maude Coffee Roasters” who only buy direct from farmers around the world to ensure the highest quality coffee as well as guaranteeing a fair price to the farmer with no middle man getting in the way.

To compliment this amazing coffee we also buy all of our milk from Acorn Dairy who supply fresh organic milk straight from farms in the Yorkshire Dales.

David Long

Centre Manager

The specified carousel is trashed.

I am very excited to be part of the Leeds Climbing Lab team as the Centre Manager. Originally from South London, I began my love for the great outdoors through the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as a teenager. This blossomed as I got older and led on to many exciting adventures. I began climbing seriously while at university in Plymouth and was instantly hooked.

I trained as a Geography teacher and although working in schools, my career has always involved working with and in climbing centres, especially bouldering centres. I am passionate about climbing but particularly about enabling people to begin or continue to progress with their own journeys as climbers.

Technicians Team

LAB Techs

We have a wonderful team of technicians who are always changing the routes. They are vital to our success and without them, you would rapidly run out of problems to work on.

Every two weeks, our LAB techs design a range of routes from v0 to v10. It’s not as simple as it sounds, a lot of thought is put into making them interesting, thought-proving and fun to solve.
