Climbing Coach/Front of House
Job Description and Person Specification
The Climbing Lab’s mission is to provide a safe, friendly, and exciting facility for all levels of climber.
To maximise the accessibility of climbing and increase knowledge & awareness of the sport,
and to create a social hub for all who share an interest in climbing
Accountable to: Operations Manager
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- To deliver high quality tuition to both children and adults of all abilities
- To provide first class customer service and give a warm welcome to every visitor
- To ensure centre entry procedures are adhered to and process transactions through our automated POS system
- To supervise the bouldering walls and ensure all users maintain appropriate climbing wall etiquette
- Respond to emergency situations and carry out first aid as required
- To ensure suitable standards of cleanliness are maintained at all times within the centre
- Opening and closing of the building
- To positively promote The Climbing Lab values and beliefs, and assist with achieving the mission statement
Essential Skills & Experience
- A keen, active climber, with a passion for the sport, having at least 12 months climbing experience
- A previous customer facing role in a busy and fast paced environment
- Experience working with an automated POS system, including cash handling
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work with flexible working patterns, including evenings and weekends
- Self motivated with a proactive, positive attitude
- To be punctual, well organised, and reliable
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working in a commercial climbing centre
- A nationally recognised climbing instructor qualification, such as CWA or SPA
- A current First Aid qualification
- Experience coaching groups of children or adults in a sporting environment
