Our Facilities.

No matter your style or ability in climbing, we've got you covered. The Lab is a 16,000 square foot space packed with climbing on a range of slab, vertical, overhanging and steep climbing walls.

Have a coffee break in our open-plan social space, stock up on climbing gear, discover your first pair of climbing shoes or make the most of your studies and remote-working with our free-to-use workspace.

The Climbing Zones.

The Lab has a diverse selection of state-of-the-art walls with climbing holds brought to you by the best manufacturers from around the world.

 We have a unique top-out boulder, power tunnel, slab area, vertical walls and an olympic standard comp wall. Each wall section includes plenty of vertical space to enable you to progress at a comfortable pace.

The Titan Boulder.

The Lab in Leeds has the first paris olympics replica boulder in the north called the Titan

Our Titan boulder is our competition standard climbing wall. The same design will be featured in the 2024 Paris Olympics. This is the only replica in the North of England so you can come and climb the same wall as your climbing hero’s. We host a selection of exciting climbing comps on this wall every year, come down and get involved. Our Titan wall is located in the middle of the climbing centre with lots of open space to host an audience. We have two viewing platforms that offer a fantastic experience for spectators to watch competitors crush the blocs. If you’re running a comp and want an amazing space to host it, feel free to get in touch with us, we’re always happy to work something out and chat about availability.

Power Tunnel.

Our power tunnel has an 11 metre overhang to test your endurance

Can't find a belay partner today? We've got you covered with the only power tunnel in Leeds. This giant wall offers a selection of creative power endurance based routes that will help you tick off your next sport climbing project.

Due to the advanced nature of climbing the power tunnel is for over 18 year olds or assessed teenagers.

The Top Out.

The Labs iconic Top out boulder is one of a kind in Leeds

Our unique top-out boulder allows you to climb up and over the massive steep prow and top-out onto it to give you an immense sense of achievement. The top out zone is balanced with slab walls and vert so there is a good mix for all abilities.

Due to the advanced nature of topping out on the top out boulder only over 18 year olds and assessed teenagers can top out.

Looking for something less steep and delicate? We've got a massive 14m state of the art slab boulder that is packed with routes requiring technique, footwork and balance.

Mad Rock.

Gain confidence and strength by climbing our steep Mad Rock wall and prow. The same area also includes a hip slab; take the weight off your upper body and climb some next-level footwork focused problems.

The Cave.

The Labs huge cave offers lots of boulder problems to test your roof climbing skills

Defy gravity with horizontal climbing movement on our huge steep cave. It’s up the stairs on the mezzanine opposite the power tunnel. You can fine tune your roof climbing skills in this zone utalising heel hooks and core strength.

Prism wall.

Our Prism area features a variety of wall angles and shapes that meet a 90-degree roof; a strong finish to a selection of technical bouldering routes.

Kids area.

The Lab has the only dedicated kids area in Leeds, perfect for younger climbers to get to grips with bouldering

Our dedicated kids area is designed with families in mind. The climbing holds are carefully selected to be comfortable for little hands and they are spaced closer together to be within reach for little arms. We use this space to host our kids parties which you can book through the instructed session page.

Cafe.

The cafe at the lab sells amazing house roast coffee, local cakes, smoothies and beers for after climbing

Every climber loves coffee and our team is no different. Our coffee beans are supplied by Maude Coffee, a micro-roastery that sources its coffee from sustainable farms to help protect our planet. They are also our yearly Lab Test sponsor and have helped us to produce our own signature range of Single Origin house roast. 

Around the corner, Jodie Bakes delivers fresh brownies and sausage rolls twice a week, she also sponsors us for the Lab Test. Alongside this, we have a selection of pies brought to you by Daves Ale and Pies on Kirkstall Road.

We have a great selection of sustainable drinks from Tenzing, Karma drinks, Remedy Kombuchas and energy boosting vegan smoothies.

Once you've finished climbing, browse our great collection of hazy hoppy IPAs and crisp pilsners. These are brought to you by local brewers from North Brewing Co, who donate all their used grain to local farms.

In our shop, you can find: climbing shoes, shoe fresheners from Smell Well, Lab branded insulated water bottles and sustainably sourced seasonal Lab merch, Gekco chalk, finger tape, a selection of Probalm skin healing solution, chalk bags and our house roast coffee beans.

Social Space.

Whether you're coming to climb or hang out, there's always space for you at The Lab. Our open plan centre has plenty of seating space, so you can chat with your friends between climbing attempts or catch up with friends over a beer - We're also dog friendly.

Workspace.

The LAb has a workspace on site so you can blend your work day and climbing in one place

If you're looking to blend remote working or university studies with climbing, look no further. Our free-to-use workspace has high-speed wifi, sound dampened walls, comfortable poloplay chairs, giant bean bags and multi-socket tables. 

Whether you're delivering online presentations or cranking out the last page of revision, our workspace offers you everything you need for your workday ahead. Work through your day with a coffee, before taking a break and having a mindful climbing session.

Gym.

the functional strength gym at the lab is free to use for all members

Want to focus on your gym goals? The Lab is equipped with everything you need to tackle functional strength, circuit training, stretching and cardio.

We have a selection of weights, resistance bands, battle ropes, pulley sysytem, adjustable weights bench and abdominal bench. 

There is a large range of free weights; barbells, dumb Bells, kettle bells, medicine balls and weighted disks which can be used with the various equipment and stations on the functional rig to make your circuit training session that is perfect for all abilities.

Warming up or looking to hit your personal best? We have an exercise bike, rowing machine, curved running machines and a SkiErg. Finish your session by cooling down with stretching bands on our comfortable yoga mats.

Our gym is for over 18 users and assessed teenagers.

Training Area.

Looking for something more climbing-specific? Our climbing training area includes a colour blind-friendly circuit board. The area features our state of the art electronic light-up MoonBoard, a large peg board to practice your lock offs, campus board for training contact strength and a variety of fingerboards from BeastMaker, Lattice and Transgression board.

Due to the advanced nature of climbing training the trainign equipment in this area is for over 18 year olds or assessed teenagers.

Changing rooms.

there are lockers and showers for you to use at the lab

Early riser? We're open at 6AM Monday to Friday. Start your day right and climb before you start work. Grab a free cup of our house roast filter coffee before 9AM to power your climbing.

We're a close commute to the city centre. Safely store your bike in our secure cycle shelter and keep your belongings in our locker space.

We have male, female and gender-neutral bathrooms. Use our modern shower layout and hairdryers to prepare for your day ahead.
