Crux Physiotherapy specialises in climbing and outdoor sport related physiotherapy.

This includes:

Physiotherapy assessment and treatment

Athlete assessment

Strength and conditioning programming and rehabilitation.

The mix of climbing and physiotherapy is what make Tom tick. He has over 20 years climbing experience in multiple disciplines and has enjoyed 12 years as a physiotherapist.

Tom specialises in 'hands on' physiotherapy with a passion for new research, cutting edge techniques, and progression of the profession. Taking the time to educate clients thoroughly allowing them to self-manage conditions efficiently is key. Sport specific strength and conditioning is a main component of the Crux philosophy. Tom currently also works as a Clinical Supervisor for Vita Health Group, and runs Crux Physiotherapy.

Tom has attended training from British Association of Hand Therapy, Tyler Nelson (C4HP), BMC Injury Symposium, Tom Goom and many more.

His passion for climbing started in the South of England on sandstone outcrops in his teens. He trained as a climbing instructor at the age of 16 while working at Mile End Climbing Wall. He was lucky to train and work around an inspiring group of people. Long sessions in the board room, building climbing walls and route setting all helped it sink in. After a short period of competition climbing and traveling the world he returned to education.

Tom attended Leeds Metropolitan University to train in Physiotherapy in 2007. He graduated in 2010 as a qualified Physiotherapist, going on to work within sport, private practice and occupational health. With further training in hand therapy, upper limb conditions and running injuries, a specialism in climbing and outdoor sports evolved.

Tom spends his free time climbing in Yorkshire and North Wales mixing bouldering, sport and trad climbing equally. Maintaining a passion for mountaineering, paragliding, running and mountain biking.
